A Chinese worker at TCM Mabati Factory in Eldoret has been fired and will be sent back to China after a video showed him hitting a Kenyan worker with a metal sheet on 16 November 2025.
The company put out a statement on Sunday to say the man’s job ended at once and made clear he was not the owner, just a normal worker.

The attack took place inside the factory in Eldoret. The video spread fast online and made many people in Kenya very angry. The clip showed the Chinese man hitting the Kenyan worker many times. People called for him to be arrested and sent home.
The company said the attack was wrong. It does not allow bad treatment of any worker, no matter their country or race. Bosses said they took quick action.
Victim Forgives the Man Who Hit Him
The Kenyan worker who got hit forgave the man the next day. A new video showed them shaking hands. The Kenyan said he no longer felt bad about it.
“I have forgiven him and I do not have a problem with him anymore, and I still want to work here,” the worker said. He said problems next time should be talked about in the office. He said he would not listen to others.
“Next time, if there is a problem, he will call me to his office and I will accept my mistakes. But I have forgiven him. I will not listen to what people say because the disagreement has ended. He is my boss, and he will remain my boss.”
Even after they made peace, the company still fired the Chinese worker and began steps to send him back home. The company said sorry for what happened.
Many people stayed upset. The main workers’ union, COTU-K, called for him to be sent out of the country.
The Chinese Embassy in Kenya said it agreed with the firing. It called the attack a one-time thing that should not hurt the name of all Chinese workers.
“The Embassy consistently requires Chinese citizens in Kenya to strictly abide by local laws, regulations, and cultural customs, and the vast majority of them do so,” the embassy said. It asked Chinese people to show respect to Kenyans.
