The case against Hope Shongwe and Tuki Benjamin Maditsi, arrested for killing the principal and a clerk at Inxiweni Primary School, was moved to 1 December 2025 after a short time in the Tembisa court. The State asked for more time to look deeper into the 18 November attack.
Shongwe, who worked at the school, and Maditsi, said to have links to one of the gunmen, were held soon after the shooting. Both stayed in jail while the State worked to check their home addresses and look at new leads tied to the case.
Prosecutors said more arrests may come as police try to make sense of the plan behind the attack. The deaths shook the school in Tembisa and raised key fears about safety and how the school was run.
Police are also looking into reports of money issues at the school. They said this is part of the wider work to find out why the killings took place.
The State’s voice said they still need more proof to build a strong case before the next day in court. Police are going through all the facts they got at the school and around the area.
Moms, dads, and other people in the area spoke of fear after the attack, which took place in the day. Law officers got to the school fast and held the two soon after the head and clerk were shot.
Officials said more charges may be added, based on what comes out of the new work. Police are still talking to people who saw what took place and are checking if more people helped plan or took part in the attack.
The NPA said it will watch the case as the State gets set for the next court date. They told the public that all steps in law will be used to make sure the right people face justice.
The case will be back in the Tembisa court on 1 December 2025, where the State will give an update on how far the work has gone. The two will stay in jail until that day.
